Read on to keep appraisal orders running smoothly. Disregard if you've already taken action.
After pandemic-related delays, the effective date for the strong password requirement is now July 22nd. We’ll continue to evaluate the situation and your feedback, and we’ll keep you updated if anything changes as we approach that date.
What is changing, and when?
As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the highest security for Mercury Network, there are upcoming security enhancements which will affect your VMP XSite clients who place and manage appraisal orders via your client portal or within their loan origination software (LOS). We’re sharing this information well in advance to avoid workflow disruptions by ensuring everyone has time to accommodate these changes.
On July 22, 2020, your VMP XSite client users will be required to log in using a strong password. In addition, a secure “forgot password” workflow will become available for these users, and reCaptcha technology will be implemented when creating new client user accounts. All these industry-standard measures help to exclude unauthorized access and protect everyone’s data in the platform.
To avoid interruptions when this change takes effect, any VMP XSite client user who isn’t using a strong password will need to change their password. If they are not using a strong password when the requirement takes effect on July 22, they will not be able to log in to your portal nor place and manage orders via their LOS until they are using a strong password and that password has been updated in their LOS.
What should I do?
Make sure your VMP XSite clients are using a strong password. Because you control whether your client users can change their own username and password, the process for changing their password may differ. Use the links below to learn more about each scenario.
What if I don't complete these steps?
When this change takes effect on July 22, any VMP XSite clients who are not using a strong password will be required to change their password. Those who usually log into your VMP XSite client portal will see a prompt asking them to change their password. Any VMP XSite clients who place and manage orders via their LOS will see an error message indicating their login information is incorrect, so their password must be changed to a strong password.
